Fishing Loch Watten

Loch Watten is often described as the “Leven of

the North” on account of the quality wild brown

trout that it offers to anglers. The Loch can be

fished from the bank or boat and attracts visitors

from the United Kingdom and beyond.

The Loch extends 3 miles in length and between

¼ and ½ mile in width, with an average depth of 7

to 8 feet. The average weight of trout caught is

around 1lb although “Trophy Fish” can weigh up

to 3 & 4lbs.T

The fishing season runs from May 1st to September 30th. We have fishing rights for 6 Boats on the Loch, so if a guest has a boat and would like to fish for Brown Trout then you may take their boat and pay weekly or Daily rate to fish - rates can be discussed before arrival.

We have recently purchased a Pioneer 13 boat with Yamaha outboard motor and can offer this to guests and non-guests. Prices are £20 per day for guests (staying at either the cottage or the B&B, but must be booked when booking accommodation) and £40 per day for non-guests. Both are based on two persons sharing the boat only. The boat will be launched from Watten Mains.

Wild Fowling

Wild fowling can be enjoyed on, or close to,

Watten Mains and can be discussed before arrival for rates and availability.

Often the stubble fields will see vast congregations of geese.
